The Canopy (3d)

Located on the top two floors of a newly built residence in La Baule, this duplex draws inspiration from the seaside architecture of the town’s houses dating from the 1930s to the 1950s.

An architectural vocabulary

Vaults provide the guiding theme throughout the project. They appear in the bookcases and doors, creating continuity between the different spaces.

A tribute to Gio Ponti

Gio Ponti’s ceramics occupy a central place in the project, bringing colour and personality to the interior.

Gio Ponti (1891–1979) was a renowned Italian architect, designer and painter, and one of the most influential creative figures of the 20th century.

The richness of natural materials

La Canopée gives pride of place to noble, natural materials.

Raffia backing the bookcases, ceiling finishes, linen stretched across the bedroom walls and naturally bleached oak were selected as much for their texture as for their ability to create a warm, enveloping atmosphere.

Together, these elements create a bright, sensitive interior that resonates with its seaside surroundings.

Bespoke design as a signature

Much of the furniture was designed specifically for the project: the dining table, clover-shaped coffee table, console, bedside tables, desk and vanity units.

"Creating spaces where every detail finds its natural place."
