This project grew out of an extensive renovation of a traditional chalet, entirely reimagined as a resolutely contemporary residence.
A Black & White envelope
The colour concept revolves around a deliberately contrasting palette: black and white.
The interior envelope is defined by walls clad in brushed and sandblasted fir, finished with a white stain that delicately reveals the wood’s natural grain. Against this luminous, textured backdrop, dark wood and metal elements structure the spaces, articulate the volumes and assert the chalet’s contemporary character.
Spaces conceived as sculptures
Each room features bespoke design in which functionality meets formal exploration. The ski room, for example, includes a moulded white Corian bench whose fluid lines contrast with the warmer, more rugged presence of the wood.
A flexible space, between swimming and events
On the lower level, the swimming pool was designed for multiple uses. Its movable floor can transform the pool area, freeing up a surface for different events.
In this monochrome, almost dreamlike world, a polar bear immortalised by photographer Vincent Munier becomes an iconic, contemplative presence.
