An exceptional transformation

The complete renovation of Hôtel Les Grandes Alpes introduced a new way of experiencing hotel living.

The project transformed fifty-five rooms into just nine exceptional suite-apartments, the largest extending over nearly 260 m². On the ground floor, the reception areas were preserved and integrated into this new identity.

This far-reaching transformation required a complete reconfiguration of the volumes. Wider openings, relocated partitions and redesigned spaces made it possible to create generous suites conceived as true places to live.

One shared identity, nine individual worlds

The challenge was to establish genuine coherence between the suites while giving each one its own personality.

This unity is built around a continuous palette of colours and materials, expressed through panelling, timber structures, textiles, plaster finishes and other surfaces. Inspired by the deep, nuanced tones of the Alpine landscape, the palette creates a subtle thread throughout the project.

Beneath this shared harmony, each suite offers its own interpretation of the Alps. Rare stone, a distinctive shade or a reflection reminiscent of light on snow gives each interior its signature, like an imagined landscape or mountain range.

Materials as a precious setting

The walls are partly clad in chablis, fir trees that died standing and naturally developed purplish tones. The wood is brushed and sandblasted, then treated with a positive stain that reveals and emphasises its grain.

Combined with hide cladding, these materials create an exceptionally soft, enveloping and warm environment, where natural textures play a central role in the experience of the place.

"Creating spaces where every detail finds its natural place."

An unexpected touch

Penguins specially designed and crafted for the hotel watch over it like mischievous mascots. In winter, they wear custom-knitted sweaters and become characters in the daily life of the hotel.

Bespoke design as a signature

The bespoke furniture, designed and made by Philippe Hurel, extends the architectural language into every suite.

Les Grandes Alpes offers a distinctive vision of mountain hospitality: a world where luxury is expressed through generous spaces, rich materials and a subtle dialogue between a shared identity and unique atmospheres.
